News: 17 February 2011
Te Matatini o Te Ra is New Zealand's national kapa haka competition and is held every second year.
Manatū Taonga, Ministry for Culture and Heritage, supports Te Matatini and shared our work with the many thousands of New Zealanders who attended this week's festivities in Gisborne.
During the four day event we ran a stall with information about us and the many interesting websites we run - especially the excellent 28 Māori Battalion site http://www.28maoribattalion.org.nz/. You can view the promotional posters for our 'A photo for every man' campaign on this website. We are collecting photos of all 3600 men who served in the Māori Battalion. Can you help?
Congratulations to all of the winners of Te Matatini o Te Rā 2011, particularly Te Matārae i Orehu, the Supreme Champions. A full list of winners is available on Māori Television's website.
