About this fund
Toi tipu, toi aweawe!
Grow the world of arts, so we may be inspired by the world of arts!
The Cultural Sector Regeneration Fund is designed to support the arts, culture and heritage sectors to recover from the impacts of COVID-19, and help the sector thrive in the future. We’re looking to find and fund strategic, sector-led initiatives, that will have lasting benefits for arts, culture, and heritage in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Regeneration Fund replaces planned funding rounds of the Capability Fund, Creative Arts Recovery and Employment Fund and the Innovation Fund with a single outcome-focused approach, making it easier for people to apply.
The fund has five outcomes:
- Improved sustainability and resilience of the arts, culture and heritage sectors
- Improved safeguarding of Mātauranga Māori and support of Toi Māori
- Improved access and participation in arts, culture and heritage sectors
- Increased the use of arts, culture and heritage as a tool to improve wellbeing
- Increased employment and skill development opportunities.
The Regeneration Fund began with $28 million available to support initiatives that have the strongest potential to contribute toward these outcomes. Round One distributed $3 million of this to the first tranche of initiatives, Round Two distributed over $7 million to the second tranche of initiatives and Round Three distributed over $11 million to the third tranche of initiatives. Understanding our whakataukī
Toi tipu, toi aweawe!
Toi tipu, toi aweawe!
Grow the world of arts, so we may be inspired by the world of arts!
These words were chosen to encourage those within the arts, culture and heritage communities to continue to plant the seeds of creativity in their chosen fields. By doing this, our communities can nurture our shared creativity in Aotearoa New Zealand, as well as acknowledge and understand the gifts passed down by our ancestors to inspire our cultural regeneration.
