Ministerial Services Adviser

The Ministry for Culture and Heritage Te Manatū Taonga provides advice to government on cultural matters. We fund and support several of the nation’s iconic cultural institutions including Te Papa, the New Zealand Film Commission, TVNZ, the NZSO and Te Matatini. We also produce award-winning websites including Te Ara - the New Zealand encyclopedia - and the 28th Māori Battalion and NZHistory websites. We administer significant heritage sites such as war graves and the National War Memorial.
We are looking for a dynamic, experienced writer to join our Ministerial Services team. You will draw on your keen interest in the arts, heritage and media sectors to prepare draft speech material and correspondence for the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage, and for the Minister of Broadcasting. There will also be opportunities to contribute to policy advice, and prepare media releases and material for corporate publications and the Ministry’s websites.
You will have good analytical skills and experience in the public sector, ideally in writing for Ministers. The position requires sound judgement, initiative, political nous, and highly developed interpersonal skills.
We are looking for somebody with a can-do attitude who can juggle competing demands and priorities, respond to very tight deadlines and work under pressure.
