From time to time, the Ministry undertakes research on cultural sponsorship. This research is conducted in association with Statistics New Zealand.
The survey of businesses, conducted every two years, targets 100 companies with a known history of cultural sponsorship. It explores their cultural sponsorship intentions over the next three years, past sponsorship of cultural events and activities, what their preferences are, what influences their decisions, and the state of the sponsorship market.
The survey of cultural organisations was carried out for the third time in 2001. The organisations surveyed were those funded by the Ministry and those recurrently funded by Creative New Zealand. A major arts festival was also included. This survey examined cultural organisations' perceptions of sponsorship regarding trends in the cultural sponsorship market, and factors influencing these trends.
