Jane Meares has been appointed to the New Zealand Film Commission Board for a three-year term, Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage announced.

Bringing substantial legal expertise to the Board, Jane is a barrister, specialising in public and commercial law. She works with a range of government departments, Crown entities, non-governmental organisations and corporate clients.

Jane also brings key audit and risk experience, reflected in her previous role as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of Parliamentary Counsel’s Office and as current member of the Land Information New Zealand Risk and Assurance Committee.

A highly experienced Crown governor, Jane’s roles include being the Chief Commissioner of the Transport Accident Investigation Commission and Deputy Chair of the Electoral Commission. She also Chairs the Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB) Foundation and is a former board member of the RNZB.
