Te Matatini Society Inc.
Te Matatini has as its focus the long-term development of Maori performance art. It provides support for the national kapa haka competitions, regional development for 13 rohe that make up the membership of the Society, festivals, events, exhibitions, wananga, workshops, master classes, Maori performance arts in schools, the South Pacific Arts Festival, and international festivals and events.
Every two years the Society produces the "Te Matatini National Festival" which brings together the representative groups from regional competitions.
The Ministry manages Te Matatini's relationship with the Crown and administers government funding. A National Committee of representatives elected by the rohe governs the Society. A smaller Executive Committee oversees operations. The representatives appoint the Chair.
