Creative New Zealand - Arts Council of New Zealand Toi Aotearoa

Creative New Zealand's purpose is to encourage, promote and support the arts for the benefit of all New Zealanders. Arts development is supported through grants and initiatives for the professional and creative development of artists, the creation of new work, and the presentation and distribution of their work. A number of professional arts organisations are funded on an annual or three-year basis. Current strategic priorities for Creative New Zealand are: New Zealanders are engaged in the arts; High-quality New Zealand is developed; New Zealanders have access to high-quality arts experiences; New Zealand arts gain international success.

The Ministry manages Creative New Zealand's relationship with the Crown and administers government funding. Creative New Zealand is governed by the Arts Council, who along with the Arts Board and Te Waka Toi are Ministerial appointments. The Pacific Arts Committee is made up of representatives of the main island groups and sits under the Arts Board.
